Celebrate the Season: The Village Holiday Celebration in Dunwoody
The holidays are upon us, and there’s no better place to ring in the joyful spirit than at the Village Holiday Celebration in the heart of Dunwoody. Hosted by Create Dunwoody in partnership with the Dunwoody Village Merchant Alliance, this event brings together friends, families, and neighbors for an afternoon and evening full of holiday magic.
What to Expect
Taking place Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Greater Dunwoody Village area, this year’s celebration promises to be bigger and brighter than ever.
Beginning at 3:00 pm, attendees will be greeted by a festive menu of live performances from local dance troupes and singers, from the kids’ voices of the Dunwoody Elementary School Singers to the bold moves of the Stayin’ Alive Crew.
At 5:30 pm the excitement ramps up with the lantern line-up and judging, followed by the lantern parade at 5:50 pm, where lanterns will be gliding through the village in a radiant display you won’t want to miss.
The evening continues with the tree and snowflake lighting at 6:30 pm. There’s something truly magical about that moment of illumination under the night sky.
Activities for Everyone
One of the great things about this event is how intentionally it’s built to offer something for all age groups and interests. Here are just a few highlights:
- Lantern kits, including a paper lantern, light, and dowel, are available for purchase in advance and at local outlets. Participants can decorate them during one of the lantern-workshops and vie for fun prizes.
- A “mini holiday market” and a miniature animal farm by Little Red Barn bring in that kid-friendly, rustic holiday charm.
- Holiday-themed craft stations: ornament making, lantern decorating, even Chanukah crafts and latkes for the season’s broader celebrations.
- Hot chocolate, s’mores by the fire, face painting, balloon artists, sing-along sessions for the littlest attendees, and, yes, free “take-your-own” photos with Santa.
- Local merchants will be on-site offering games, giveaways, and holiday shopping opportunities... perfect for supporting small business in the community while soaking in the festive atmosphere.

Arrive at or just before 3:00pm to catch the earliest activities and stake out a good spot for the lantern parade. Bring a camera or phone with good low-light capabilities for the later evening activities, like the tree lighting (you'll want to snap a good pic)! Dress warmly and in layers (evenings in November can surprise you), and if you're planning to shop locally afterward (I promise you'll want to), build in a little browsing time.
